What is not accepted for repairs?

We don't repair any gasoline type items as well as hazardous items that might include toxins.
We also don't tailor any clothing, just repair them!

What do we charge for repairs?

We do not charge for our time or advice in the attempt to fix your item.
Granted, additional parts may be needed to complete repairs. You may need to provide additional parts. As a volunteer organized group, Repair Cafe Nanaimo has limited parts and supplies on hand, but we can offer some new, replacement parts for purchase

We do collect donations to help cover the costs of running the organization; which more info can be found about that below

How big of an item can you bring in?

If you can carry it to our location and through the doors we are happy to assess it!

Do we offer a warranty on repairs?

We do not offer any warranty or guarantee. We are not liable for any repairs carried out by our volunteers or yourself and the functionality of the product in our presence or into the future at your home

Do I need to stay with the item being repaired?

Yes! You have to stay with the item as it is being repaired. We encourage people to take part in the repair process, although that is not mandatory.

What if an item is unrepairable?

It's on you to responsibly recycle/dispose of that item. We may take donations of the broken item but thats on a case by case basis and is not guaranteed!

Can I bring multiple items to be repaired?

We can only view one item at a time to make it fair for everyone attending. We are happy to view multiple items in one event, but you will have to go to the back of the line and fill out another registration form to have a second item viewed by our team of volunteers.

Can I reserve a spot?

We operate on a first come first serve basis. We have a google attendee form that we encourage people to fill out. This helps us get an idea on who's coming and what items are being brought to an event. However by filling out this form you do not reserve a spot for yourself.

Can I bring my children with me?

Yes! We can even offer an interactive 'kids take it apart' table. Parents and guardians are ultimately responsible for their children at all times.

Are you guys wheelchair accessible?

Yes! The St. Andrew's United Church is wheelchair accessible and we have taken great care to make sure our venue indoors is accessible by all!

How can I get involved?

You can fill out the volunteer form here. We appreciate all the help as this wouldn't be possible without the community's help!

How can I donate?

You can send an e-transfer to our email '[email protected]'. We also will have a donation jar set up at each event to collect cash donations; if that's a more preferable method. We really appreciate the generosity for any donations made and they all go to help fund parts and future events as they are very pricey! We are a non-profit and will not pocket any of the money. This will only be sustainable with the communities help! Thank you!
